The Kaushik Lab is excited to welcome Dr. Tamar R. Abel as a new postdoctoral researcher in the lab.
Dr. Abel joins the team with a strong interdisciplinary background in biochemistry, systems biology, molecular and cellular biology, computational biology, and multi-omics research. She earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Vermont and her Ph.D. in Systems Biology from Dartmouth College, where her doctoral work focused on a rare autoimmune disease using patient-derived organoids and single-cell technologies.
Before joining the Kaushik Lab, Dr. Abel completed a computational postdoctoral fellowship at The Jackson Laboratory, where she studied molecular signatures of Alzheimer’s disease using novel mouse models and publicly available human datasets. Her expertise includes bulk RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, multiome approaches, genomics, and high-throughput data analysis.
Her arrival brings new strength to the Kaushik Lab’s growing research program, especially in integrating disease models, patient-derived biology, and computational omics to better understand mechanisms of human disease. We are excited for the new perspectives and expertise Dr. Abel brings to the team and look forward to her contributions to our ongoing work in neuroimmunology, neurodegeneration, and translational disease research.
Welcome to the lab, Dr. Abel!
